Kingston, NY (January 21, 2010) 4:21 P.M. - The American Red Cross of Ulster County has given emergency aid to 5 adults and 5 children after a fire destroyed their home in Kerhonkson overnight.
Disaster Action Team volunteers promptly arrived at the scene of the blaze and ensured the residents were safe. The Red Cross has provided temporary shelter and financial assistance for food, warm winter clothing and medical supplies.
In the coming days and weeks, Red Cross volunteers will continue to work with those affected by the fire and to provide more aid if needed. Volunteers will also assist victims develop a post-disaster plan to get each started on the road to recovery.
