They will train students on the roles and responsibilities of Mass Care workers, and how to effectively operate mass shelters in small to large scale disasters. After completion of these courses, a registered Red Cross volunteer may be deployed to small and large disasters locally and nationally to assist in recovery efforts.

About the American Red Cross of Ulster County
The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Last year, nearly 300 residents of the Ulster County were provided free, emergency assistance by the Chapter after disasters such as fires, floods, and power outages. On an annual basis the Ulster County Chapter also provides disaster preparedness, first aid, CPR and childcare training to thousands of residents.
The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money and blood from the American people to do its work.
